Laura Hartley
Actress . Comedian . VO Artist . Thrift Shop Explorer . Beer Enthusiast
Born in Los Angeles to a British father and an American mother, Laura grew up between her schooling in the East San Francisco bay and family visits to the Isle Of Man. Her performing career started young, singing at the age of three, and acting by age seven. Her first role on stage was that of a parrot who had lost it's colorful feathers. She was immediately hooked on storytelling, and from yearly theatre camps to bad high school productions, Hartley became all the more devoted to the entertainment world.
Laura graduated with a BA in Drama from UC Irvine. During college, she played every role imaginable from Philia to Philomele and everything in between. While in school, she traveled to New York and studied on-camera acting and appeared Off Broadway in the new musical 'Waiting for Laura' at The York Theatre. Though her success had been on stage, it was her time in front of the camera that won her over. Laura quickly fell in love with the subtleties of film and television acting.
Shortly after graduating, she was asked to join the cast of Grease in the first ever theatrical production to take place in the historic Avalon Theater on Catalina Island. She’s continued her work on stage, including the role of Meredith in 'Five Women Wearing the Same Dress', and won a Hollywood fringe festival producer's award in the cast of Neil Labute's 'Some Girl(s)'. Her favorite television and web roles include Miriam in 'Project 420', (One Step Productions) and Anna in 'DMV', Goodbye Productions' first ever scripted pilot.
Laura has studied with acting teachers Gary Grossman and Art Cohan of the Beverly Hills Playhouse, as well as Doug Warhit, Lesly Kahn, and most recently completed the advanced intensive at Margie Haber Studios. She studied improv at UCB and Groundlings. In 2016, Laura co-created GinBlo Productions, a comedic YouTube channel releasing a new sketch monthly. She is a standup comedian, and can be seen performing regularly at the world famous Comedy Store in Hollywood, Flappers in Burbank, and other various comedy clubs in the Southern California area.
She enjoys reading practically any novel she can get her hands on, and will never say no to black coffee or dark chocolate. She is working on becoming a first-level Cicerone, and has a particular affinity for huckleberries.
